Today, the new daily crochet pattern Amigurumi Baby Norb Free Crochet Pattern, I want to give you some information about this pattern;

Materials & Tools
1) YARN. I used DK weight (8 ply / 11 wpi) half cotton yarn (100g – 330mt (3,5 Oz –
361 yards))
Mustard (Alize Cotton Gold, shade: 216) – 160 g (5.7 Oz)
Light brown (Alize Cotton Gold, shade: 571) – 20 g (0.7 Oz)
Brown (Alize Cotton Gold, shade: 493) – 15 g (0.5 Oz)
Lilac (Alize Cotton Gold, shade: 44) – 5 g (0.17 Oz)
Milky (Alize Cotton Gold, shade: 62)– 15 g (0.5 Oz)
Thinner black cotton yarn (100g – 210 mt (3.5 Oz – 230 yards)) – about 20 g (0.7
Oz)
2) HOOK. I used 2.5 mm (US size B1 – C2) and 2 mm crochet hook (US size B1)
3) Polyester fiberfill, wool, wadding etc. for STUFFING (about 60 g (2.1 Oz))
4) Safety eyes 4mm
5) Hot glue (optional)
6) Wire 42 cm (17“). Thickness of the wire: 1,2mm (0,47“)
7) Black insulating fabric tape
8) Hot glue gun, hot glue
9) YARN NEEDLE, sewing PINS, SCISSORS, stitch MARKER.

Head-body
NB! Use DOUBLE mustard yarn and 3.0 mm crochet hook. Crochet in spiral.

Using DOUBLE yarn, you will save a loo-o-ot of time (you will achieve the
desired size of the detail faster) and
the detail will be thicker and will hold
the shape better.

0) Chain 2
1) Sc 6 into the 2nd stitch (6)
2) Inc 6 (12)
3) (Sc 1, inc)6 (18) 4) (Sc 2, inc)6 (24)
5) (Sc 3, inc)6 (30) 6) (Sc 4, inc)6 (36)
7) (Sc 5, inc)6 (42) 8) (Sc 6, inc)6 (48)
9) (Sc 7, inc)6 (54) 10) (Sc 8, inc)6 (60)
Now work even for 38 rounds:
11) -48) Sc 60

Firmly stuff the detail.
Now you are going to close the detail, leaving two openings for the legs.
Fold the detail and join the edges, as it is described in the next round:
49) Sc 5,
then to make the opening for the left leg, join the 6st st of the row 49) with the 57th
stitch of the row 48) with single crochet stitch;
then make sc 22 joining the edges.
Leave 8 stitches unworked (this will be the opening for the right leg).
Finish as an open piece

How to finish an open piece
1) Make a slip stitch to the next stitch. Cut the yarn, leaving about 40 cm (16 in) long tail
(you will use it later to sew detail together). Draw the yarn tail through the loop.
2) Insert the hook through the next stitch from FRONT to BACK and draw the yarn tail
through.
3) Insert the hook through the next stitch from BACK to FRONT and draw the yarn tail
through.
My TIP: See below ANOTHER METHOD, how to finish an open piece in a way that you
cannot spot the ending of the row (it is especially important for such parts as eyes, pupils
and spots on the body, where you definitely need an even edge).

Hair Part 1
In my pattern the hair has an unusual construction, because I wanted it to be crocheted in
one piece, so it would be easier for You.
• First of all, you are going to make 5 joined squares;
• Then you fold them in a certain way and crochet their two sided together;
• Then you will keep crocheting among the edge of this strange detail IN ROWS
(turning after each row) till the back side of the detail is ready.
Use mustard yarn and 2.5 mm crochet hook. Crochet in rows.
Square nr 1:
0) Chain 14
1) Make sc 1 into the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc 12, turn (13)

Now work even for 11 rows:
2) -12) Ch 1, sc 13, turn (13)
13) Ch 1, sc 13 (13)
Don’t cut the yarn, proceed with the square nr 2

Square nr 2:
0) Chain 16
1) Make sc 1 into the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc 14, turn (15)

Now work even for 13 rows:
2) -14) Ch 1, sc 15, turn (15)
10
15) Ch 1, sc 15 (15)

Don’t cut the yarn, proceed with the square nr 3

Square nr 3:
0) Chain 18
1) Make sc 1 into the 2nd stitch from the hook, sc 16, turn (17)

Now work even for 15 rows:
2) -15) Ch 1, sc 17, turn (17)
17) Ch 1, sc 17 (17)
Don’t cut the yarn, proceed with the square nr 4

Square nr 4 = Square nr 2
Don’t cut the yarn, proceed with the square nr 5

Square nr 5 = Square nr 1
Don’t cut the yarn. Now you are going to fold those squares as it is shown on the
picture to get TRIANGLES and crochet over two sides of those triangles.

Stuff the detail a little. You are going to stuff it properly, when you sew it to the body.

Finish as an open piece, leave a tail (about 100 cm (40 in)) to sew hair to the head

Hair Part 2 * 4 details
Use mustard yarn and 2.5 mm crochet hook. Crochet in rows.

0) Chain 10

10) Ch 1, sc 9 (9)
Fold all four squares as it is shown on the pictures below to get triangles:

And crochet over two sides of those triangles:
10) Ch 1, sc 9, sc3into1 (into the corner of the triangle), sc 10 (23)

Don’t stuff those detail now: you are going to stuff them, when you sew them to the
body.
Finish as an open piece, leave a tail (about 30 cm (12 in)) to sew hair to the head.

Snout
In my pattern the snout has an unusual shape to achieve 2D effect, so be prepared.
The most interesting part is coming at the end, where you are going to make HALF-ROWS
(this means, that you are going to turn your work on the wrong side, crochet half of the row
and then turn your work back to the right side… and repeat that several times). I have made
a lot of pictures, so I hope there will be no problem for you to understand the process.

Use lilac yarn and 2.5 mm crochet hook. Crochet in spiral.

3) (Sc 2, dec)2, sc 1, dec (8)

4) Sc 8
5) Sc 8
6) Sc 8
NB! Those crochet fingers have a tendency to
curl, so I advise you to “block” them overnight
to make them straight.

How to “block” details
1) Soak details in sugar syrup (1/4 glass of hot water + 2 table spoons of sugar).
2) Fix them with sewing pins on rubberized surface (I use yoga block), giving them a
desired shape.
3) Let them dry overnight.
NB! This trick works only with cotton of half cotton yarn: polyester won’t absorb the syrup.

Now you can proceed with the rest of the leg:
Change the color, proceed with mustard yarn, use 2.0 mm crochet hook as for the previous part!
1) Sc 8
Change the hook, proceed with 2.5 mm crochet hook!
2) Sc 8
3) Sc 8
Finish as an open piece, leave a tail (about 30 cm (12 in)) to sew the leg to the body.
