Hi everyone, welcome back to this month’s Ami CAL! Here we are at Week Two, and it’s time to get started on our Mommy and Baby huggable ice creams!
Here’s the supply list again, in case it passed you by.
We’ll be making the Mama and the Baby scoops this week, then in Week Three, we’ll give them a cone to sit in and add some small, fun details!
To achieve the larger size of this design with less overall work, we’ll be holding two strands of worsted weight yarn together and using a size K hook. Make sure the tension is the same for both strands of yarn as you go!

FO, leaving a very long tail to sew the scoop to the cone later.
Put the plastic eyes in between rounds 19-18 of the scoop, spaced about 5 stitches apart.
Using black scrap yarn, embroider a small smile centered between the eyes, as pictured.
If making this project for a nursery, I recommend embroidering all facial details to prevent small parts from becoming a choking hazard.

FO, leaving a long tail to sew the baby scoop to the top of the mama scoop.
Put the plastic eyes in between rounds 14-15 of the scoop, spaced about 4 stitches apart. I put mine in crooked to give the little scoop a playful, lopsided appearance.
Using black scrap yarn, embroider a small smile centered between the eyes, as pictured.
If making this project for a nursery, I recommend embroidering all facial details to prevent small parts from becoming a choking hazard.
That’s it for this week, folks! Join us back here next Saturday, May 19, for the last part of this adorable and yummy project! In the interim, make sure to pop in to the Fun With Furls Facebook Group and the Ravelry Project page to share your photos and admire everyone else’s crochet handiwork too!
